I began taking watercolor classes and realized very quickly I only wanted to paint faces. I read and researched everything I could get my hands on to learn to paint portraits. After a few years I had people asking me to teach portrait classes. I think I learned as much from the classes as the students did. I always wanted exciting colors in faces, not the ordinary browns, reds and yellows. After years of experimenting I finally found the correct combination of colors that worked every time I painted a portrait. My students were always asking for the steps to be written down so I developed the instruction cards offered on my web site. When it seemed impossible to put all this information in a set of flash cards, I would remember how long and hard I searched for something like this, which made me press on and finish the cards.
